Germany shipping label update: Weight-based icons for inbound and domestic shipments
As of January 10, 2026, FedEx is updating shipping labels for all inbound shipments to Germany, and all domestic shipments within Germany, to comply with new German postal regulations. Labels now include weight-based handling icons (10+ kg and 20+ kg). This improvement applies to all parcel and freight services with Germany and impacts each endpoint that generates a shipping label.
What does this mean for you?
These icons replace the temporary manual sticker workaround that was previously required. This protects your shipments from regulatory issues, delays, or potential fines.
This update applies to:
International inbound shipments with destination Germany
Domestic shipments within Germany
International inbound return labels (print / email)
Domestic return labels (print / email)
Parcel and Freight services within the 10+ kg and 20+ kg weight range
All automation channels and APIs where a shipping label is generated
